The Iron Sheik and his "camel clutch" was always one of the most hated heel characters in WWE history. Back in the days that it was on Sunday afternoons on the USA Network, he would do battle with All-American heroes like Hulk Hogan and Hacksaw Jim Duggan.
"Sheiky," as he refers to himself now, has taken to Twitter to let everyone know that he's alive and well. Oh, and to crudely insult everyone he can - and when we say crude, we really mean CRUDE and EVERYONE. We won't even mention them here, but we did just find an animated video where Sheiky narrates a crazy story about him and Hacksaw Jim.
During a traffic stop in 1987, Duggan and his passenger the Sheik were arrested for marijuana and cocaine possession. Both Duggan and Sheik were fired which led to Duggan blaming the incident for never being able to rise to the top of WWE:
I don't think I ever regained the momentum I would have had before the arrest with the Iron Sheik," said Duggan. "I think I was on the fast track [before the arrest]. I think I would have been World Champion, Intercontinental, or Tag Team Champion. I never regained the momentum. I think a lot of guys it would have totally crushed their career, but I was lucky enough to survive it and actually thrive after the arrest."
